Provincial CleanBC programs

CleanBC Better Homes programs are managed by the Province of British Columbia. They provide citizens with rebates and support to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in new and existing homes.

CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program

Who this program is for

B.C. homeowners with eligible homes who are looking to improve energy efficiency through select upgrades. Applications are accepted after all work has been completed and final invoices have been paid.

What it covers

The program offers rebates to make energy-saving home upgrades more affordable. Rebates are available for heat pumps, insulation, windows/doors, heat pump water heaters and electric service upgrades. There is also free energy coaching and support in multiple languages to help identify the home upgrades and rebates that work best for you and your home.

CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program

Who this program is for

B.C. homeowners with eligible homes where the total household income is within an established threshold. You must pre-register for this program before renovations begin.

What it covers

The program offers enhanced rebates to make energy-saving home upgrades more affordable. Enhanced rebates are available for heat pumps, insulation, windows/doors, and heat pump water heaters. Additional rebates are available for necessary health and safety, ventilation, and electric panel upgrades. There is also free energy coaching, virtual energy assessments, and support in multiple languages to help identify the home upgrades and rebates that are best for you.

Multi-unit Residential Building Program

Who this program is for

Stratas, market rentals and equity co-ops located in BC Hydro’s electric service territory.

What it covers

The Multi-unit residential building program helps with:

  • Opportunity assessments to identify potential improvements to energy efficiency
  • Feasibility studies for in-depth analysis of your building’s systems
  • Rebates for equipment upgrades
  • Rebates for solar panels and batteries
  • Rebated for electric vehicle charging and infrastructure

A growing number of local governments in B.C. are offering top-up incentives to citizens who apply for certain kinds of energy-saving upgrades through select CleanBC Better Homes programs.

Municipal Top-ups

Who this program is for

Citizens who are eligible for select CleanBC Better Homes rebates and live in the legal boundary of participating municipalities. No additional application is required.

Limited time offer – Act now, as municipal top-up rebates are subject to availability and will be approved on a first come first serve basis.

What it covers

Different municipalities offer different municipal top-ups. Top-ups may be available for various upgrades including heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and electric service upgrades when participants are switching from a fossil fuel heating system.

Other programs

Additional rebates are available from BC Hydro, FortisBC, Pacific Northern Gas, the federal government, municipal governments, financial institutions, and independent organizations. ​
